£1,000. Becky Mason (PR Student final
year) and Anja Swan (Journalism student) win a week’s placement at Quest PR in
Harrogate and MCG PR in Chapel Allerton, respectively, as well as £500 to
support their transport costs, and hopefully leave some left for nice outfit!
The judges praised this year’s entries, saying it was
the highest calibre of any year since the Prize was launched five years
ago. Shortlisted candidates attended a
lunch event in the Rose Bowl on Wednesday 19 February with donors and judges of
the award.
Survey Season:
Please don’t forget to complete the National Student Survey (Final
year students!) and the Student Survey (first and second year students)..it’s really important that you give us feedback – both the good and the
constructive!! Final year students will
begin to receive calls from IPSOS Mori for failure to complete so please don’t
wait to get hassling calls – click on the link above and log in to the student
portal.
Events:
Two brilliant opportunities to hear from two
individuals with very different backgrounds:
Michael Woodford is an internationally renowned business
man. Following his experiences at Olympus, where he turned whistle blower
following the discovery of mass fraud by senior people at the company. He has
travelled the world delivering his story – issues and crisis managment,
internal communications, and media
relation all in one evening! He has recently sold the film rights of his
experiences (all proceeds go to charity) so this is an opportunity to meet
Michael before you see his story on the big screen.
Rob Forkan and his twin brother, Paul, became
orphans in their early teens when their parents were killed in the tsunami in
2004. Following their parents’ deaths, they decided to create a
social enterprise as a tribute. Still only young men, they formed
Gandys Flip Flops which has since grown in to a successful social enterprise.
Both of these speakers will be great. Michaels’
event will be in Lecture Theatre A, and will run from 6pm to 7.30pm on Tuesday
4th March. Rob will be presenting in Lecture Theatre B
(6pm to 7pm) on the 18thMarch. Tea & coffee will be
avaiIable from 5.30pm outside LTA.
In view of the demand for these events, we do ask that
those who intend to come along register their place via www.leedsmet.ac.uk/guestspeakers.
This helps us to gauge numbers for the night.
